WAR PROPHECIES.

OLD AND NEW "HOHENZOLLERN DYNASTY DOOMED" An extraordinary number of prophecies have been made with regard to this great European war—prophecies old as well as new—prophecies which are already partly fulfilled and likely to be coinplotey so, and they all point in the same direction, to tho downfall of Germany.

Perhaps that by tho Parisian chiromancer, Mme. de' Thebes, in her almanac for 1914, issued last winter, deserves first mention. "This year we shall pass through the gravest and most decisive hours. It will be a year especially happy for France, in spite of blood, in spite of tears, and in spite of uneasy omens. Victory I Victory I We have nothing to fear from the trials of fate. France will emerge renewed in strength, reconstituted by war. All is disquieting in the destiny of Germany. The person of the Emperor is most threatened by fate. It is not tho eagle of victory he weare in Mb helmet." Mme. ue Thebe wa-s curiously correct, too, in her forecasts of Italian and Austrian events, for she foretold "a new Pope, and great changes with him," and of Austria she says, "The drama in the Imperial Family which I foretold is near to accomplishment. None oan arrest the hand of fate." A.n earlier dictum of hers appeared in her almanac for 1912. ■ "Germany menaces Europe in general and Franco in particular. When the war breakti out, hers will be the responsibility, but after the war there will no longer be Hohenzollern or Prussian hegemony, 'this is all Berlin will gain by her violeuco and the brutality of her political methods. I have said, and I repeat, that'the days of the Emperor ere numbered, that after him aTI will be changed in Germany. I say the years of Lis reign; I do not say the years of his life." Belgium's Trying Days. Another Parisian prophetess, Mme. Sybilla, an interview with whom .appeared in the "Stampa" of Turin last January, said: "Tiie slfy of Ebropo could not be more turbid. On every side tha outlook is of blood and war. Tho hands of- the Slavs are iieavy with fate. Indeed, the hands of all politicians are steeped in fury and dissimulation. An imperial drama is imminent. The Gorman outlook points to profound convulsions. The person of the Kaiser is the aim of destiny. I cannot see tho rehabilitation of European equilibrium until Prussia has reentered into the limits of 'a small State. , ■ Belgium has trying days bejit T- Mme- Sybilla even asserted that Italy would favour France in epite of her treaty obligations. The prophecy of a monk who lived in Saxony 600 years ago ie already widely known: "There will be a King in Germany under whom the nation will be creator and more powerful than ever I before. He will bo followed by an uncrowned King, who will pass as a shadow across the throne. A one-anned King will succeed him, and in the end of this reign, or maybe early in the next, the German armies, will go forth to conquer tho world, but thoso who return will shelter under the pear trees of the nation." (The pear tree did not then grow in Germany.) Another well-known prophecy says that "tho kingdom of a ruler who has eis sons and who mounts his horse on the wrong sido will be swept away." Three years ago, it is said, the Kaiser's horoscope was given in "L'Echo du Merveilleux," and the fall of tTio .German Empire was foretold for 1913 •or-1914. "If there , is war in 1914 between Franco and Germany, France will se victorious."

An Indian magi, in an almanac published last January, announced: "Inthe month of July L 914 all Europe will be overwhelmed by a war between the Great Powers, and torrible disasters will result. But in November a great Emperor will lose bis crown and hostilities will cease "

Dr. Frank Allen, president of 'the American Astrological Society, who, among other important eve'nte, predicted the assassination of President M'Kinley, the San Francisco earthquake, and the outbreak of this European war, after analysing the horoscope of the Kaiser, declares that tho Hohonzollern dynasty is doomed, that though there will be some initial German successes, the last of these occurs early in November, and "tho destructive forces seething around the Kaiser cannot be curbed: the downfall is invitable." Second Waterloo. At the time of the siege of Port Arthur tho famous General Nogi said: "I believe that the world will witness a great war which will have all Europe for its battle-ground and will eettle the Franco-German question and the AngloGerman rivalry. France and Germany will meet in this last decisive conflict on the Belgian plains, probably near Waterloo, the only spot which will permit of the evolution of the immense armies which will face each other. . . . I have little.doubt as to the result of this war; France will beat Germany on land and England will crush Germany at eeii,' . An older Japanese prophecy dates back as far as 1793. This ran, "Wlion men fly like birds, , ten great Kings will go, to war against each other, the uniy> \ will be under arrae." ' the Continent two prophecies are wi x own. One is called the "Prophe \Strasburg," the other is that of a\ \woman, which is said to have had a \ influence with the Kaiser; so grea. 'eed, that in 1899 Herr von Jagow gu \is as a reason why there should be*. European war till after 1913. The Aaiser s grandfather went to this old seer incognito, and asked her three questions. It was a time of changes and upheavals, and the first of these questions was when the German States, then just formed into the German TJnion, would become an Empire. She told her unknown visitor to add tho figures of the year (1849) together as units, arid, then to add them to tho date. He did so 1 8 4 9 1849 1871 was the result. The second question was: "How long am I to rule over this Empire?" The woman did as before, taking the year 1871. ■ 1 a 7 • ■ i I 1871 these figures come to 1888. Amazed at her confidence, the Prince again questioned her. How long is this Empire to last?" She worked asbefore, taking 1888 as the key. 1 8 8 8 1888 1913 was tho answor. Prince William became German Emperor in 1871 ami died in 18S8. "The Prophecy of Strasburg" foretold the rise of tho German Lmpiio in ]870 or 1871. As everyone knows, tho dales arc correct. It also placed tho date of its fall as a Rcnnratiou and a hulf from that <i«te. A generation maz ba oomidered to be 28 to 30 yewsj.

nearly 40 years has elapsed. This would allow 29 years for a generation, and brings tho event prophesied into tho present year. The Kaiser himself was prophetic in a remark he made when looking at Verestchagin's pictures of Napoleon's retreat from Moscow. "In spite of that," ho said, "there will still he men who want to subdue the world; but they will all perish liko that." And now the nations, knowing what Gorman success would mean sooner or later to all, look on almost breathless at this titanic struggle, and, wondering, ask, "Will the Kaiser also perish like that?" —Alwyn Bruco, in the "Daily Mail."
