OTAGO'S VISIT. ' ' LOCAL' MEN SHAPE POORLY. r The'Otago University team is visiting here, and it commenced a match against the Victoria University College team, on the Wellington College ground, on Boxing Day. So, far the Wellington men nave done badly, and the visitors seem .likely, to, hand them,out a sound thrashing. Otago is J more and plays better and brighter cricket. fielding, when Otaeo was at the wickets, was lifeless and inaccurate, and assisted materially in the piling up of the batting scores. Then, at the crease, the Wellington batsmen showed poor form, and their running between the wickets was lamentable. In, this respect Word 'deserves special mention. The best feature of the day's play was the excellent bowling of Alloo, a medium loft-hander, who took seven Wellington wickets for 35 runs. The match will be continued to-day.
