IMPROVEMENTS TO THE GROUNDS The chairman of the Reserves Committee (Mr. G. FrostV who supplied tho information about,the City's reserves contained in Saturday's review of the City's work, states that several improvemente are to be made to the Zoo grounds. The chief of these affect the main entrance to the Zoo, opposite the southern end of Daniel ; Streot. It is proposed that, the present entrance Bhall be widened out so as.to bring, it in an exaofc alignment with Daniel Street. -This work is to be done'in connection With the olearing away of the little nursery and manure beds in that oorner of Newtown Park. Another etrip of tho nursery on the eastern side ie being filled in in order to widen the back road. When that is done and the new entrance to. the Zoo has been built,.it is proposed to convert the rest of the place into'a grass plot, with garden seats,, etc; Another improvement to the entrance will be. the making of a garden plot of that piece of land encompassed by the tramway loop at the corner of Roy and Daniel Streets (where the cars discharge all passengers for the Zoo). Still another improvement to be made at the Newtown Park is a new entranoe,from Russell Terrace, with a path and steps leading down to tho ; main western drive. '
