LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

MASSEY V. WARD. Sir,—Thanks to the amazing political intelligence of Grey Lynn, and the votes of a couple of hundred irresponsible 3'oung Territorials, we are faced with all the very doubtful blessings of tho late Sir George Groy's sinister legacy "One man one vote," and a political impasse which has cost much money and waste of time without serving any purpose. Wero I Mr. Massey, I would, make a present to New Zealand of Sir Joseph Ward as tho country's permanent Premier, for it is quite evident that a groat number of New Zealandors have not had enough of the "tailioa" little tin gods yet.

They are quite content with our ridiculous railways, our unprofitable idle lands, continuous strikes, anarchists, dynamiters, I-won't-work Red i'eds, and the many contemptible petty laws which have made their country a byword and joke to all visitors. Sir Joseph Ward as Premier would of course immediately proceed to England and embarrass polite but' bored English statesmen with his views upon Imperial matters, while the affairs of New Zealand would be left in the hands of the "tailioa" Prince, Sir James Carroll, assisted by Mr. Payne, Mr. Webb, Mr. Glover, and, say, Messrs. Isitt and Russell.

A long time resident of the Dominion, I have nothing hut contempt for the many little laws enacted by the Liberal (?) Party, and for the placid acceptance of these laws New Zealand deserves to have Sir Joseph Ward for its Premier for all time.—l am, etc, COUNTRY VOTE.
