PRIME MINISTER'S LIST Further contributions to the Empire Defence Fund are:—
1 DISTRESS RELIEF FUND FOR THE POOR OF GREAT BRITAIN, IRELAND & BELGIUM. The Wellington Committee of the Poor of Great Britain and Ireland and Belgium Relief Fund acknowledges receipt of the following donations to the Fund:—
As the Clothing Fund of tlie above fund has now been closed, donors are requested to note that no further contributions should bo forwarded either to the Mayoress or the other receiving depots. Any one wishing to make any such donations may do so by posting them direct to the High Commissioner in London.
EXECUTIVE MEETING. A 1 meeting of the Poor of Great Britauu Ireland, and Belgium Relief fund Executive Committee was held yesterday morning (Mr. C. P. Skerrett in. the chair). The general secretary reported that since the last meeting the sum of £15,000 Lad been transmitted by His Excellency the Governor, and it is hoped.to send a further instalment of £14,000 before the holidays. This will make the total for the Dominion Fund. £49,000. A letter was read from the Minister of Internal Affairs intimating that the Government had agreed to • refund railage on all donations of 6tock, produce, and other goods. Some discussion took place with respect to the freight. charges to London on gifts of frozen meat.and dairy produce, and those attending the meek ing subsequently waited upon the Prime Minister to ask the "Government to provide the cost of transit on gifts of all donations requiring insulated space. As a result of' the deputation it is expected that the Government will provide for the transport. The Blanket Fund Sub-Committee reported with respect to the purchase and shipment of blankets. The members of the committee also expressed their appreciation of the excellent work done by the members of the Countess of Liverpool's Ladies' Committee in'sorting and packing the very large quantity of clothing which lias been sent forward.
