The German commandant, replying to the population's demand for food, said that England's naval efforts to starve out Germany would not be permitted. The last-named country would do muoh to relieve the inhabitants. Ho-ordered all flour to be exported to Germany, where the need was much' greater than at Lille. \. PETROL SUPPLIES. RUNNING OUT IN GERMANY. London, December 22. The petrol supplies of Germany are running short. The commander at Hamburg has _ stated that it will be necessary to limit the use, otherwise Germany will be placed in a dangerous position.
