. The advertised times for closing mails by steamers are liable to alteration (earlier or late) at any moment.
On Friday, December 25 (Christmas Day) tho Postal Department will ho eloped in nil its branches. Mails for dispatch by steamers will close at 8 p.m. on the previous evening, and tho only dispatches of correspondence by trains will close on Christmas Day as follows:—For the Wnirarana Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Rangitikei, Wanganui. and Taranaki districts at 5.45 a.m and for Auckland and Auckland district at 8 a.m. The City and suburbs receivers will not bo cleared during the day but the midnight clearances will bo mado as usual.
On Thursday, December 24, an extra clear, ance will bo made from >the city and suburban receivers as foIIows:-To Aro. Wellington South, and Tborndon, at 5 p.m., Hatatai, Kilbirnie. Jliramar, Reatoun Island Hay, Vogeltown, Brooklyn, Kelhurn Northland, and Wndostoivn. at 4 p.m. There will not he any deliveries by letter-car] iers on Christmas Day, but on Thursday, December 24, the Carriers' Department (entrance upstairs from Featherston Street) will bo open for the delivery of correspondence addressod to streets in the oitv andi suburbs from 8 to 9 p.m.; also the public counter for the delivery of correspondence addressed to the Poet Office wiil be open from 8 to 9 p.m The parcels delivery counter will open from I to 9 in On Saturday, December 26 (Boxing D< rj the Chief Post.
