HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLES London, December 21. Paris reports on the fighting between the Lys and the Aisne Btate that the Allies have taken a wood, occupying two- trenches. The French heavy artillery silenced different parts of • the enemy's artillery, overwhelming the Gorman trenches, and smashing two guns. Appreciable gains were made in the Champagne and Argonne districts, and near Beausejour, 1200 yards of trenches were taken. In the Angonne and on the Meuse progress was made along the whole front. Ground was gained near Brabant (in the Southern Argonne.) TRENCHES RETAKEN. SUCCESSFUL BRITISH ATTACKS.: London, December 21, 6.15 p.m. Paris reports that the British troops attacked this morning, retaking the greater part of the trenches previously lost. Before Lihone the enemy made four successive attacks. All wero Tepulsed. "
