Customs duty collccted at the port of Wellington yesterday amounted to £2525 10s. 4d.' HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following oablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London; December 19. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, <ire average market prices on spot):— Mutton—There is more demand owing to short supply of Dutch, but the market is declining on account of frozen supplies increasing. Canterbury-mutton,. 5 l-Ba. per lb.; North Island,-5Jd. Lamb—The market is quiet. Canterbury twos, 6 9-16 d. per lb.; other than Canterbury, 6 3-Bd.
Beef—Thero is a better demiand for beef owing to short supply of Irish and chilled. New Zealand hinds, ,6 3-Bd. per lb.; -fores, ■53d.; chilled hinds, 7 3-8 d. ;: fores, 5 3-4 d.
Butter—The market is firm. Danish, very slow, supplies are increasing, 150s. to 1545. per cwt.; New Zealand, market is firm, a good demand, 1365. to 1385.; Australian, market is firm, moderate supplies coming forward, 1345. to 1365.; Argentine, Arm. 132b to 1365. »
Oheese.—The market is not quite so firm. Canadian, firm, demand only moderate, white and coloured, per cwt., 78s. to 795.; exceptionally, 80s. New Zealand market has declined further, white and coloured, 765. to 775. The Kuahine, Tainui, and Pakeha arc in dock. Tho Euahine and Tainui are discharging butter and cheese now, but the Pakeha cannot discharge for three days. The dairy produce market is rather unsettled owing to delay in delivery from docks. Hemp.—Tho market is somewhat steadier. There is very little New Zealand on hand. New Zealand, good-fair grade, por ton, £26; fair, £24. These prices.aTe nominal. January to March: Mew Zealand good-fair grade, per ton, £24 10s.; fair, £23 10s.; fair current Manila, £25. The output from Manila for the week was 16,C00 bales, WHEAT AUD FLOUR. By Telegraph—Press Aisociation—Oipyrlght London, December 20. The wheat market is very firm. Bellers are reserved. The total quantity of' wheat and Hour afloat for the United Kingdom totals 2,290,000 quarters; for the Continent, 2,100,000; Atlantic shipments, 685,000; Pacific, 50,000. The total shipments to Europe during the week amounted to 1,165,000 quarters, including 12,000 quarters from Indie. ■ LONDON MAEKETS.
