BOARDING-HOUSE BURNED DOWN
1 (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ( . Dunedln, December 20. At Lawrence, about 3 a.m. yesterday, a boardinghouse, containing 16 rooms, owned and occupied by Mrs. Catherine Falconer, was totally destroyed by fire. The fire was first noticed in the kitchen by one of tlio boarders, who raised tho alarm, allowing all the inmates, of whom there woro ten, to make their cscape. Mrs. Falconer,managed to got two boxes containing wearing apparel out of tlio building, but saved nothing beyond this. Sonio of tlio boarders suffered considerable loss, escaping- only with part of their working clothes. The building was old, and burned very rapidly. Amount of insurance (in flio Standar Office) is £300 on tlio building nnd £'2l)0 on tho furniture ami personal cll'ects.
