The Hon. J. Allen went south last night. He intends to spend the Christmas holidays at his home in. Buncdin. The Hon. W. H. Hemes leaves tomorrow for Auckland, where he will remain for the holiday season. The Right Hon.; ,Androw Fisher, Prime Minister of tie Commonwealth, is leaving Australia for New Zealand by the Makura on Christmas Eve. Mr.' H. W. Lever, manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Wellington, who has been on a visit to the Ola Country, is due back to-day. He is accompanied by Mrs. Levor and tho two Misses Lever. Miss Florence; Young and Messrs. Reginald Roberts and O. R. Bantock, who are to commence a tour of New Zealand with Edward. Locke's musical drama, "Thoi Climax," at Christchurch on ■ Saturday evening next, will arrive from Sydney to-day. Advice has been received in Wellington that Mr. O. H. Mitchell, of Hataitai son of Mr. J. D. Mitchell, manager for Messrs. Alex. Cowan and Sons, Ltd v has passed in London his intermediate examination for tho A.R.1.8.A. degree of Architecture. The examination was held in. London from November 20 to 27. Mr. Mitchell was articled to Messrs. Atkins and Bacon, architects, of Wellington and left for London m July last. Commissioner H. E. Hodder, of the Salvation Army, returned to Wellington from Wanganui last evening. At the New Year lie leaves on a tour of the South Island. The "Star" states that Dr. Buck (To Rangihiroa) has been offered the position of Chief Medical Officer to the Maori Contingent now in training in Auckland for service abroad. The members of the new Willoughby Dramatic Company, who are to play tha Christmas season m Dunedin, are due to arrive from Sydney to-day by tho Moeraki. Word has been received at New Plymouth that Captain Colville, of the South Lancashire Regiment, is among the wounded and- missing at the front. Captain Colville is a son of General Colvile, who, as a major of the 43rd Regiment, served, in the Maori wars, being wounded at Okato. Captain Colville-is also a cousin of the Rev. A. H. Colville, vicar, of St. Mary's, New Plymouth.
