SUPREME COURT
LEAVE TO APPEAL SOUGHT. An application for leave to appeal to tio Privy Council in the case of Gillios v. Gane, a milking-machine air patent being involved, was heard in the Supreme Court on Saturday morning before their Honours tho Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) and Mr. Justice Hosking.; A decision of the tHitl Bench, given-some little time ago, had disallowed the plaintiff's claim, the Court intimating that the claim was too wide. Sir John Findlay, K.C., with him Mr. D. M. Findlay appeared for Gillies, while Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K. 0., with him Mr. D. R. Hoggard, appeared for Gane. After argument had been heard the Chief Justice said that the Court would reserve judgment, and he would comjmmicato with the other Judges to as- ' certain whether they considered it necessary that the argument should be heard before a Full Bench. DAMAGES AWARDED. Reserved judgment has been delivered in a case, heard before His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards at Palme'rstori North, in which Albert Dyer proceeded against L. G. Foster to recover tho sum of £143 7a. as damages in connection with a collision which occurred on September 19 last. Plaintiff, in evidence, stated that on the evening of September 19 ( he was run over by a motor-car driven by Foster, and was seriously injured. His claim was made up of medical expenses, loss of wages, damaged olothes, damaged bicycle; and £100 general damages. His Honour gave judgment for plaintiff for £100, with costs according to scale.
