ASTERTON NOTES.

A ballot , for the sis sections in the Falloon Settlement, a few miles to the west of Masterton, was held yesterday by members' of tho ' Wellington Land Board. Following was the result: —No. 1. 203 acres (8 applicants), M. J. Sinclair; No. 2, 219 acres (ll applicants), W. L. 0. Sutherland; No. 8/ 212_acros (0 applicants), A. J. Gordon; No. I, 115 acros (6 applicants), M. Lawless; No. 5, 10S acreß (15 applicants), F. 0. JohanoGii: No. 6, 111 acres (12 applicants), Mrs. E.' 0. Burling. Tho Masterton Homing Pigeon Club held, a race from Parenga, in the Auckland: district,. on- .Thursday. . Eighteen birds competed. ~ The only bird to reach horiio was. Messrs.-Drake Bros.'
