The Paliiatua Borough Council has decided to hold over negotiations in con-. nection with tho loan for carrying out electric lighting works in tho borough, owing to the unsettled state of tho country as a- result of the war. Boisterous and disagreeable weather still prevails in tho Fahiatua district, ond haymaking and shearing operations are still at a standstill. There has been heavy rain at different periods which has done a lot of good to the pastures. In this district thoro is a good quantity, of green grass. v Tho recent heavy flood in the Mangatainoka River destroyed a small por- . tion of tho' Island Domain adjacent to tho Fahiatua borough. A Tano sheepfarmor, Mr. T. Hodgins, disposed of a good lino of fat lambs to a freezing company representative this week. .Ot 800 lambs yarded, direct from | tho mothers, tho handsome tally of 563 was accepted as fit for freezing. This is stated to bo very good for this distriot, which is generally not .considered an early ono for fat lambs. Tho lino was reared on hilly country.
