LAND BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of tlie Land Board was held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, yesterday. Present: Hr. T. N. Brodriok, Commissioner of Crown Lands (in the chair), Messrs. Jos. Dawson, H. T. Ellinghain, Jas. Georgetti, Chns. M'lntyre. The following applications to transfer wore received, and it was resolved to approve on the usual conditions:—E. ue Rosa to W. A. Bfunn, Section 92, Block XIV, Belmont, 2 acres (Epuni Hamlet); executors in estate of J. Cundy (deceased) to H. N. Cundy and. A. S. Carlyon, 43 acres; 0. 1 , . Olson .to p. J. Sparks, Section 13, Block I, Mangaone, 200 acres; G. F. Eenby to J. Dyke, Section 19, Block 11, Kairanga, 90 acree 2 roods; executrix of J. Gardner (deceased) to S. Gilling, Section 44, Horowhenua Village Settlement, 10 acres; T. G. Scott to L. S. Polglase, Sections 11, 12, 13, 16, Block 1, Maknri Township 3 acres 3 roods 13 perches; Section 111, Block XIV, Belmont (Epuni), Mrs. K, Dudding to F. W. Wishart, 2 acres. • The following applications to transfer were also received and it was resolved to tako the action noted in each case — C. P. Knight to J. U. K. Stellin, Sections 7 and 10, Block.X, Kaitavra, 24 acres 2 ! roods 82 perches; C. J. Knight to J. U. K. Stellin, Section 23a, Block X, Kaitawa, 17 acres 1 rood 17 perches; C. P. Knight to J. U. K. Stellin, Sections 13, 14, 15, 16, part 28, Block X, Kaitawa, 95 acres 1 rood 37 perches; C. P. Knight to J. U. K; Stellin, Sections 8, 4, 8, and 9, Block X, Kaitawa, 4G acres 14 perches. Mr. Stellin waited on the board, and the ranger's report was read. It was resolved to decline.' D. G. Poison to Mrs. F. A. M. L. Polson, part 1 of Section 21, Block IX, Mangawhero, 255 acres 1 rood 29 perohes. It was resolved to decline. T. H. Tylee applied to subdivide Section 1, Block 11, Manganui and transfer 8 acres 10 perches to M. Luoni, an adjoining licensee, and it was resolved to approve provided ranger's report is favourable. The following selectors had failed to comply with the conditions, and it was resolved to take action as noted under each case:— G. E. Bell, Section 6, Block XVI, Eetaruko, 537 .acres, nos-improvement.—Con-sideration postponed till next meeting. W. J. Ward, Sections 15, IG, 17, Block XV, Horopito West Township, 2 acres 2 roods 16 perches, nou-residejee. Is trying to sell, not being able to build at present.—Resolved to take no action at present. W. H. Adair, Section 25, Olakune V.S., 15 acres, non-residenco. Desires to appoint a .substitute.—lt was resolved, to approve.of the appointment of a substitute. Wm. M'Kay applied for o email area of Section 15, Block XVI, Huangarua, 633 acres, for .a better access to his woolshed. —It was resolved to decline. C. J. Dallard, licensee of Section 11, Block IX, Kaitieke, applied for SectioD 12, Block IX, Kaitieke, 6 acres H perches, to improve his access, and it was resolved to recommend the disposal of the land to the applicant under the provisions of Section H of the' Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, on occupation-with-rightof-pur-chaee tenure at the price of ,£3 10s. per acre. It was resolved to offer Sections 54 and 55, Mowhanau Vill., 1 acre 2 roods 23 perches, for lease by auction in'Wanganui, for a term of 10 years in terms of the ranger's report. It _ was resolved to reduco the loading for improvements on Sections 40, 47' 4S, 49, 96, Blook VIII, Belmont, from k522 to ,£497. , '■ . . . ■ . , The following applications to purchase the freehold were received and approved :-Section 6, Block I, Kujtfiine, 771 acres, F. E. Obrist; Section 5, Block I, Tiffin, 152 acres, Geo. Kiddie, junr.; Section 15, Block Vll, Makun, 200 acres, A, S. Simpson. The following improved farm settlers applied for further advances under the provisions of the regulations of August 2-i, 1914, and it was resolved to recommend (or the Minister's approval:— R. Morris, previous advances, .5144 135., now applied for, .£SO, .£22 10s.; G. Gore (£237 ss. Bd.), JEGO; A. J. Millynn 4s. 7d.), .£SO; J. Berry (.6149 135.), £100; J. 0. Tiney (.£193 13s. 9d.), .£6O; C. Pittame (.£259 12s. Id.), .£SO; H. Stebbings (.£l6B Its. 2d.), .£6O; C, Allen (.£96 ss. Gd.), 450; G. H; Siswick (.£lB9 12s. Id.), £50. The May Morn Estates (N.Z.), Ltd.,- applied for a license to occupy portion of tho Forest Eeserve Block XI, Akatafawa, (or tramway purposes, jt was resolved to approve of a license being issued to the company under the provisions of Section 53 of the Reserves and other Land Disposal and Publicßodios Empowering Act, 1914, over such area as will be defined by the location of the tramway route upon plan being supplied, at a rental of £2 'is. per annum.
It was ; resolved to issue a renewable lease to Chas. Gibson over Section 1, Block IV, Wainuiouru, i2j acres 2 roods under the provisions of Section 39 o£ the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1914.' A plan was submitted showing a proposed cxobange of about 19 acres 3 roods of Crown land on Ahu Ahn Stream, in front of Sections. 2 and 3, Block XIII, Tauakira, for 98 acres 1 rood 10 poles of Section 2, held on Q/R.P. tenure by R. Cobbe, and it was resolved to recommend the disposal of 19J acres ito Mr. Cobbo under Section 14 of the : Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, at? a price to be fixed on O.R.P. tenure.
A. H. Collins, who gave notice on August 22,1914, to purchase the fee simple of Section 44, Block 111, IV, Ngamatea, XVI, Mangawhero, on deferred payments, applied for twelve months' eutoution to pay the deposit, and it was resolved to approve. It was Tesolved to grant a similar concession to H. H. Collins in respect of Section 42, Block IV, Mangawhero, he being with /the Expeditionary Forces. The Upper Wangaehu Hood Board submitted proposals for expenditure of £313 Is. accrued thirds, and it was resolved to approve provided the ranger's report Is favourable,' and so far as the accounts are at present, available. The proposed exchange of E.R. Section 2, Block XVIII, Levin. Township, 2 roods 37 poles, for other sections held by the Levin Borough Council, was furt?ier. considered, and it was resolved to further postpone. f . , It was resolved to approve of a license being issued under Section 41 of the Forest Regulations of the Land Act, 1008, to Ithe Prouse Lumber, Limited, for the milling of the bush on those areas of Crown lands, comprising 140 acres and 450 acres, south of Owhango Township, and east of the railway line, excep'ing thorefrom a l>elt of 5 chains in width along the Whakapapa. River, upon, payment of royalties «t the following rates:— Mwtai, Iβ. 6d. per 100 sup. feet; rimu, miro, 9<l. per 100 sup. fet; kahikatea, 6d. per 100 sup. feet; total royalty, .£1602 15s. 7d, Term of license to be two years. It was resolved to determine all splitting licenses within these areas. It was resolved ifco grant the N.Z. Powell Process, LM., a licenso to mill the timber on all that area of Crown land north of their present license in Eangataua North No. 1 Block, bounded on the west and north by the Mangaiteitei Road and on the east by.the Hangaehuehu Stream, on payment of the usual royalties for all timber off tho saw, and subject to the usual conditions.
