e—• . The combined Congregational Churches, viz., Newtown, Terrace, aud Courtenay Place lreld a social in tho Terraco Congregational Uall last evening, about 200 being present. During tbo ovening items wero rendered by the following:—Mrs. Lewis (song), and choruses wero sung by tho Terrace, Newtown. and Courteuay Place scholars. Addresses wero also delivered, and Mr. A. E. Hunt read'a letter from Dr. Jones, who thanked tho Australasian missioners for their contributions. He also read the annual subscribers' list. Tho sum collected amounted to £385. Mrs. Evans, of tho Ladies' Guild, said she had a proposal to make. Sho said: "Wo wish to propose that every lady belonging to the four churches should procure or make an apron, tho aprons.of course to bo useful as well as ornamental. AVo propose io offer a prize to those competing, for tho best d) cooking, (2) laundry, and (3) miscellaneous aprons. But tho chief point is that every lady, from tho oldest- to tho youngest, to Bring an apron. AH aprons must bo piven in by February,. and some time in March, a social will he held. , '
