CROYDON SCHOOL BREAK-UP
.DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. The breaking-tip for the summer holidays, and the presentation of prizes of the Croydon Boys' School took place' at Day's Bay yesterday afternoon, and tis usual was the souroe of much interest to parents and friends, who made a, point of attending the occasion. As n matter of fact the prqizes took the form of certificates, save in a few instances, as the boys had desired that the prize money should inet«ad be handed over to the Belgian Belief Fund! Preceding the prize-giving . a French play was performed in the gymnasium by about five of the pupils, and a display! of physioal drill given upon the lawn under the direction of Mr. Hoivitt. This: was excellent throughout. The third division, consisting of the smallest boys in the school, performed elementary dumbbell_ and Swedish exercises; the second division gave more advanced work' in dumbbells, Swedish exercises, and marchiiig, and the senior boys gave a display of very difficult exercises in both dumbbells :and Swedish drill in a •manner that would have been difficult to surpass. The entire performance of the boys ended with a display of marching and doubling, in which was included the crocodile march and jump, that, did great credit to their instructor.
