THE- INDENTING DEPARTMENT.' In May, last an important-agreement was entered : into between tHe Wellington Provincial Branoli of the New Zealand Farmers'; Union, and the New Zealand Cooperative ' Distributing Co./ Ltd., whereby .the .company was appointed ;tbe r cdmmercial branch of the Union ;for. "(4);.-A registration fee of 10s. (not recurring) is to be paid to the company by members, and the full - benefits of this department thereby secured. • ''(5) -At least 250 mombers of the union are required to join this department before it comes into force." Yesterday, at'the annual meeting of the Distributing Co., the following report on the'position was made'l'h'e first indent {basic slag and superphosphate) is now being arranged between the company and the various farmers' union branches. Early in the spring, it was decided, by your directors to mako' a .special issue of shares at p:.r, with'the object of increasing 'the capital of . the company to £15,000, and enable it to extend its wool, hide, and ■skin trade. ; The company's manager had arranged meetings of all the branches of- tlio union throughout the province 4cir the purpose of giving effect to the above. The sudden declaration of Avar, however, completely upset all arrangements, but even with the small amount:of canvassing undertaken, 2000 shares, were subscribed for. 'Early in the New Year a .further canvass for this work will bo resumed. During the year your company was represented at <in important conference of fanners' cooperative companies held in Christchrcli for the purpose of forming a ; fannors! wholesale co-operative Association.. ■; The company's .manager ' was appointed- as one of three delegates to draw up r a draft constitution for the new organisation',' which would doubtless have now been in operation but for .the disturbing influences of warfare.
