PRACTICAL PRESCRIPTION AGAINST STOMACH ACIDITY.

BY A SPECIALIST. , "Nine-tenths of all cases of stomach trouble nowadays," 6ays a, leading snocialist, "are caused l>y too much acid. In the beginning the sbomaoh itself is not diseased, but if this acid condition is allowed, to continue the' ncid ie very likely to eat into t'ho stomach walls and produce stomach, ulcer or cancer, either of which may render a radical surgical operation necessary, even to prolong life. Therefore an 'acid stomach' is roally a dangerous condition, and should bo treated seriously. Jt is utterly useless to take- pepsin and ordinary stomach tablets. The excess acid must be neutralised' by the administration of an efficient antacid. For this purpose .physicians nearly always recommend takmg half a teaspoonful of bisuraled magnesia in a little water after each meal. Largo quantities may be used if necessary, as it is absolutely harmlcse. But be sure to get th,o bisurated magnesia, as other forma of magnesia havo not the same action in the stomach as the bisurated, and frequently do more harm than good."*
