In the Otago Woollen Mills' employees' dispute, the Arbitration Court has Wed ite award The award operates In a memorandum to the award His Honour writes: "This award embodies, except as to the date from which increase of wagee is to take place, the recommendation of the Council of Conciliation, which the parties agreed to accept. Mr. M'Cullough desireß to record his dissent from the decision oi the .majority of the Court, declining to ywlct to the contention of tho workers' representative that the award as regards to wages operates retrospectively ae from August 1 last. He thinks that the result.of the conference between the workers and employers in July last imposed upon employers a clear moral obligation to pay the increased wages as from the date named." in the Otago cycle workers' and elec-' troplators' dispute the award embodies , without alteration the recommendation ot the Conciliation Council with a special provision in regard to hours of work for the Southland portion of the industrial, district similar to that in the Canterbury award. • ■ . ■ ■ In the compensation" case of Eliz 0 Mahoney-and others v. the Railway I Department, the Court declared Eliz 0 Mahoney. to be the sole dopendant, and judgment was given for £225 plus .funeral expenses £13 55., costs £7 65., witnesses' expenses and disbursements, the amount to be paid direct to Eliz O'Mahoney;
