JOTTINGS FROM PROVINCIAL CENTRES. (From Our Special Correspondents,) PAHIATUA. The boisterous Weather still continues ill the l'ahiatua district. The violence of the gale early on Saturday morning last was so sover.o that the small passenger shed at tlio Konini railway station was practically demolished, only the floor being left intact. The rains on Sunday evening brought down a heavy flood in the Makakani and Mangatainoka Bivors. A largo area of tho Konini flats was inundated, which will no doubt assist to decrease, tho milk supply at the Konini butter factory, as generally a coating of silt is left on tho grass after a flood such as experienced on Monday. Tho tennis match, Masterton v. Pahiatua, played at Pahiatua on Saturday, for the Country Cup,. resulted in tho holders (Pahiatua) being again successful. The annual howling match, the World v. tho Banks, Law and School Teachers, played on the Pahiatua green on Saturday, was won .by the former's representatives, the aggregate scores being: The World. 67; Banks, Law, and Teachers, 60.

NAPIER.

The third reinfrocement draft, about 60 strong, were farewelled at Napier tonight, several hundred citizens being present. Mr. D. Hora, chief officer of the TJnion Company's Katoa, is included in the draft which, leaves to-morrow morning for Trentham.Over £1500 has already beon donated to the Motor Ambulanoe Fund. The flawke's Bay Medical Association having contributed £1200 and tho Automobile Association £300. Charles Sudfeldt, a labourer, of Clive, has filed his petition in bankruptcy,, the deficiency being £110 Is. 9d. Sister Dalgairns has resigned her position in the Napier Hospital in order to proceed to the front. Tho Napier Hospital Boaid to-day decided to erect an administration block ond isolation ward without, delay, and at the next meeting_ of the board will also consider the advisability of erecting a maternity home. The County Council has apportioned the cost fo the new- Wool-store Bridge as follows:—Napier Borough Council, £10,976; County Council, £8783; Wairoa County, £3776; Taradale Town District, £636; Napier South, £829.
