TEMPORARY APPOINTMENTS. _ The following temporary appointments in the Second Keinforcements' (encamped at Trenthaui) have been made. They; date from December 1: — Auckland Squadron.—Trooper G. Trovathan, to be corporal/ The Defence authorities Teport that it' having been decided to send 500 officers' and men to Shmoa to relieve a similar force there which is to proceed to Europe, f volunteers will be taken from ex-Regulars,' ex-meinbers of' the E.N.Z.A., Territorial] Force, Rifle Clubs, ex-Contingenters, auclj ex-volunteers.
Applicants for enrolment must fulfil! the following conditions:— t (a) Bo between the ages of M find 47. > (l>) Be above sft. 4in. in height. I
(o) Bβ passed medically fit for service* in Samoa. Those selected will be trained in the. concentration camp at' Trentliam for. about six weeks, commencing probably in the second week of January, 1915. Pay/ at Territorial Force rates will be graiitv ed for the first month, and Expeditionary! Force rates thereafter. Enlistment will , , be optional either for nine months, com-" mencing from date of arrival in Trentham£ Camp, or for the duration of the war. Those desirous of volunteering for this, force should apply for enrolment imnie? diately to the nearest Defence office, in' their district. No selections are made at Headquarters, Wellington.
