WELLINGTON INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION
Mr. H. H. Read presided at the monthly meeting, of the Wellington Provincial Industrial Association last night, when the secretary reported that tho liquid' assofa amounted to £1120 os. 4d. .
A letter was received from the Auckland Industrial Association stating that a movement was. on foot to I establish a Now Zealand Industries Week ; in 1915,' when goods capable of ' being manufactured' in the Dominion could be displayed in the shop wmdows in the various centres.
A report of a visit to the premies of W. Dimock and Co., ~'jtd., ham and bacon' curers, was read by tho secretary (Mr. H. F. Allen) -und proved interesting to members. The committeo (Messrs. C. B. Norwood, J. F. Evans, and L. T. Watkins) received a yoto or thanks for the report. A ten-minute paper, entitled "Our Bpys: Lost Opportunities," .--as read by Mr. L. T. Watkins, who deplored tho fact that so many of '.he rising generation wero drifting into tho ranks of tho unskilled labourers instead of being sent to trades. Mr. Watkins based his_ paper on the crgument that the learning of a trade meant a competency for life and an insurance against, unemployment. He dealt very exhaustively with the subject and was warmly applauded on concluding his paper, which was voted one of the best and most interesting ever read ■ before tho association.
