■The following promotions in Samoa are announced:—Lieutenant H. F. A. Wollerman, of the sth Regiment, to succeed Lieutenant H.. F- Harlock, of the Fiji Constabulary, who held the position of military censor, and interpreter, and whohas returned to Fiji; Sergeant S. Barnard, sth'Regiment, to be lieutenant and quartermaster; Corporal E. J. Dingle, Railway. Engineers, to be lieu-_w-tenant and pqstmaster; Lance-Corporal J. D. Swan to be lieutenant andtrans■port officer. ~ ' ' . Mr. Edward Duthie, sen of the Hon. .John'Duthie, M.L.0., returned to Wellington from Australia by the Manuka yesterday, v;;:/-::-: 'y':", ..'!.'. He was entertained at lun- , cheon on arrival by Reform supporters in the town, in the afternoon he visited •the. schools, in the evening he was entertained again at dinner oy the townspeople, and in the evening he delivered - a-political speech, and after the round of duties and festivities he returned to Wellington by motor-car. Tho Rev. Mr. Eastman' and Mrs; Eastman, who have been stationed in »' the South" Sea Islands', for some time, arrived in-Auckland by the Navua. Mr. .Eastman'leave's for Rarotonga shortly. • At the Winter Exhibition of Pointings and Sculpture by the .members of the Royal Society of British Artists, now being held in London at the Galleries of the Society, Mr. H. Linley Richardson, R.8.A., of Wellington Technical College,' is exhibiting drawings of ■'■ Maoris and child, subjects.,. Captain Frandi, of No. I (Wellington) Senior Cadets,'who is leaving'New_ Zealand with tho snp'plementary.Expeditionary Force, was entertained by the members of his company at Godber's rooms .'.. on Monday evening.' ~,. \ ' ! Mr. Arthur' the Suburbs League Club, who has joined the supplementary Expeditionary Force, was tendered a farewell "social", in : Ponsonby HaE on Saturday evening.
