A farewell emoke concert was given to Mr. A. Parker by the members of the Suburbs League Football Club in the Ponsonby Hall, Abel Smith Street, on Saturday evening. Mr. W. Kerr presided over the gathering, which included several prominent members of the union. Tho chairman referred eulogistically to* Mr. Parker's work in the club, and said that although they were sorry to lose him the Expeditionary Force in which he was leaving was in need of such men. During tho evening an enjoyable musical programme was given.
A sale of household furniture, on account, of Mr. Geo. Cudby, Belraont Eoad (near Lowor Hutt Station), is advertised by Mr. H. Ernest Leigh ton for Wednesday; also, at the sanio time and place, a large quantity of grape, blnckberiy, and plum wines on account of Mr, C. Nicholas. The wine sale starts at 1 o'clock; the furniture at 1.30. Mr. Ilardio Shaw- is repeating his offer of photographing any member of the Expeditionary li'oi'co, giving an enlargement free with each dozen photographs.
