CHRISTOHURCH WOOL SALES. ' (Ey Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstchurch, December 7. The second wool sale of the currcnt 6cason was held to-day, when 15,972 bales wevo offered. Much of the wool was heavier in grease than usual, while there were many shabby lots, the result of excessive winds. ' There was a large attendance, and all the super-lots elicited keen competition. Prices were on a par with the November rates, but thcTo was a slight easing in values in the case of discoloured parcels, although those also sold well. Locks and pieces were unchanged. Competition was more general than at. the first sale, but was largely confined to Bradford and colonial mills. Customs duty collected at the port of Wellington yesterday amounted to £3105 15s. 7d. HIGH'COMMISSIONER'S CABLED MARKET . REPOKT. Tho Department of Agriculture, Industries, and- Commerce has received the following ' cablegram from'the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, December 5, 1914. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, arc avcrago market prices on spot.):— Mutton.—A poor demand continues. The market is declining on account of the large supply of Dutch, together with frozen. Supplies are likely to increase. Holders are anxious to sell. Canterbury. 5 11-16 d. per lb.; North Island, sf;d.; owes, 5 Jd. Lamb.—The market is dull and declining, especially for light-weight. Canterbury, two's, 6 9-16 d. per lb.; heavy-weights, four's, 6}d.; other than Canterbury, 6.3-Bd. Beef.—Conditions are unchanged. Tho arrivals at market include 55,000 quarters frozen from New York; New Zealand hinds, 6 3-8(1. per lb.; fores, 53d.; chilled, a moderate supply; hinds, 6d.; fores, 5 3-Bd. Butter—The market is very firm. Danish, restricted demand; 1475. to 1495. per cwt.; New Zealand, a good <lemand. 1325. to 1345.; Australian, firm, 120s. to 1325.; Siberian, good inquiry, 120s. to 1245.; Irish creamery, offerings arc very small, 1265. to 1325.; Argentine, firm, good request, 128s. to 130s. Cheese—The market is very firm. Canadinn, a fair demand, 70s. to 795. per cwfc; New Zealand, white and coloured, firm little ottering; 765. to 775. Estimated stocks Canadian cheese.
