Dealing with the cost of living last week Mr. H. F. Toogood, Reform candidate for Christchureh North, stated at one of his meetings, that the Commission appointed by tho Mackenzie Government had stated that the only way to cut down high rents in. this country was to build workers' homos. An interjector: Tho Liberal Govern--mont started that. Mr. Toogood: Yos, but they only built something liko 205 houses in 6ix years,-whilst the Massey Government built about 360 in two and a half years, and yet you accuse the Massey Government of- doing nothing to roduco the cost of living, when they are doing four times as much as tho Ward Government.
