WESTERN ELECTRIC SHIELD
The annual competition for. the above shield was fired on Saturday last by teams of five men representing companies and detachments of the Post and Telegraph Corps. The conditions were: Ten shots, with an optional "sighter," at- 500 and 600 yards, the match to be fired on the home range of- the team competing, under supervision -of-/an. officer who was not interested in the result. , Seventeen teams entered • this year, as- against seven last year, and whereas the score of 304 won the trophy for the Blenheim team on that occasion the Auckland team put on tho fine score of 446 this year. The increased entries are a healthy indication of the general interest taken by_ the Post and Telegraph Territorial in his work of soldiering, while the all-round improved shooting, speaks very'effectively, for bis increased efficiency.. .. ,' ',' .
