Mr. E. F. Proctor, writing from Auckland, desires to dTaw attention to the fact that last winter, whilst residing in Wellington,' he donated a gold medal through the Wellington Football Association to a lad belonging to the Kolburn Club in recognition of his being, in his opinion, the best- wing-forward_ in the' sixth-class competition. Since liis return, to Auckland ho lias learnt that "some misguided persons have been generous enough to publicly state that that medal was given by the Kolburn coach in order to ensure his lad a place in the representative team." Mr. Proctor states that h* bought that medal and forwarded it ■under the nom do plume of If. L. Reade to the secretary of the .Wellington Football Association. "If any of the doubting Thomases would liko any further intorniation I shall bo pleased to give it them," ho adds.
