Emerson, and the same horseman will be on Findhorn in the concluding event. The three Martan youngsters purchased by Mr. E. Riddiford at Christchurch in' November have, been turned out on that' owner's property at the Hutt and will not ba handled for a few months yet. In the same paddock are the 2-year-olds by Downshire from Purity, and the • Charlemagne ll—Shepherdess colt. The lastnamed, 'who was on the smrill side as a yearling, has been gelded, and is now a well-grown youngster. J.. W. Lowe has received - advice from Amberley .that his mare Effort has foaleda colt to. Boniform. Lowe's filly by Bezonian from the same mare. is_ to ba turned out at Trentham. Several of the local trainers will bo represented at ■ the Woodville meeting. J. H. Prosser, C. Pritchard, J. Scott, and J. W. Lowo are all taking teams to the meeting. Seadown (Downshire—Sequin), an untried 2-year-old from J. Lowe's Trentham stables, has been sent home to SilverBtream for a spell. The sale of Arlington did not take place. The owner wanted 400 guineas, but the would-be buyer stopped at JOO guineas. Mr.. G. D. Greenwood's team for the Auckland Eacing Club's Summer Meeting- will consist of the three maidens— Banksia, Bimeter. and Camulus—and the. two-year-old Sutala. The Auckland horse/nan, A. J. M'Flynn, has been engaged to ride Rustic in the jumping events, at' Woodville.'; , An Auckland writer says: "Bather a good joke .was worked, off on Mr: Hayr by his brother secretary, Mr. R. Wynyard, at Takapuna, cn Saturday, which -probably marks a record in the paying out of stakes. Mr. Hayr was very confident of Monorail's ability to win, and this Mr. Wynyard was aware of. Anticipating the victory, Mr.,Wynyard made out the cheque for the stake, and as 600n as the liorsas passed the post, the cheque was handed over to Mr. Hayr, amidst applause." Considerably over .£2OOO is to be given away in stakes at the Wairarapa Racing Club's Summer Meeting, which is to be held on the Tauherenikau Racecourse on January 1 and 2. The Wairarapa Cup, to .be rnn on the opening day, over - & coui'ss of ten furlongs, carries with it prize-money to the value of 400 -sovs., while the Tauherenikau Handicap, "one mile and a distance, to be run on the second day, is wortli 250 sovs. Nominations for all events' olose at 8.30 p.m. on Monday next, with the club's secretary, Mr, E. A. Laery, Featherston. The old Musketry gelding, Flingot,' is still showing pace in his races, but his jumping does not . improve. At Feuding he finished just out of a place, and 'may get on the winning list ,at Awapuni if the company ip not strong. Yesterday Expecfs throat was lanced by a veterinary surgeon. The big. horse is still, in a very bad way and it will be a considerable time before he can be put into work again. At the conclusion of the Woodville Meeting the Awapuni trainer, T. George, is leaving for tho West Coast with Crown Battery and Monologue. The Great Mogul was to have gone, but recently he picked up a nail and is still lame.
