.'A' meeting of'the Wellington Zoological Society was held in Mr. Castles's. rooms, Nowtown, la Bt night. Mr. T. Fathers, the society's new president, was in the chair, and delivered an inaugural address. . "■. -. ' : r ■ A deputation was appointed to wait on the Minister of Internal Affairs and lay before him the society's views on the zoological section of the two museums in Wellington, and express the society's, feeling in regard to the historical documents in charge of, the Minister's Department: Several.important resolutions were passed with a view to increasing the representation of 'New Zealand fauna in the Wellington Zoo, and the secretary was also asked to write to Mr. Minchin, of Adelaide, to obtain information as to the possibility "of securing soma birds from Australia and some from India. . ■ . ■ The secretary reported that the Waterside Workers' Band had consented to play for the society in Nowtown Park on Sunday,-when a collection in aid of the society's animal fund 'would be taken up'and 500.copies of the society's illustrated handbook and guide to the Zoo will be given as Christmas presents. .
