Bd., costs 10s. ; A case in which a dairyman was charged with adulterating' milk was' adjourned on account of t the illness of the ihspec-' tor. and a claim for £150 damages, for alleged slander, brought by Edith Osborne against Nioholas Bergs, was also' adjourned, the defendant being ill. The : annual meeting of the Petone branch of the: W.O.T.U was held in the Church of Christ, Petone, on Tue.sday evening, the president (Mrs. Rowse) ocoupybg the chair. Reports of .work accomplished during the year were read by Mesdames Corner, M'Pherson, Dohcghiie, Ashby, Barrow, and iiss Peaoh. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. Rowse j vice-presidents, Mesdames M'Pherson and Corner and Miss Kirk; secretary, Mrs. Burd; treasurer,'. Mrs. Doneghue; Press reporter, Mrs. Murgatroyd; iome meetings, Mrs. Ashby; oradlerroll superintendents, Mrs. Barrow and Miss Peach; White Ribbon agent, Mrs.'Wilson; sick visitors, Mesdames M'Pherson and Crowther; literature, Mrs. James. It was unanimously decided to assist on election day'in bringing voters to ,the poll. , ' ' At the quarterly meeting of the Hutt Licensing Committee, held on Wednesday, an application to transfer' the Family Hotel from Hector E. Ross to Henry. Fielder wasgranted.. The police reports were favourable.
