The Prince , characterised. the war as a wanton sacrifice .of. life ;: in' d. struggle, which, seems,..to.,,have, little sense or reason. . He declared that Germany was left no choice in the matter. "From the lowest, to the highest," he said, "the people of Germany Know that we are fighting for our existence. You will never be able to convince the.German people that this war was not engineered wholly for the purpose of crushing Germany. '. There, is no war party in Germany. Militarism ■is merely a. phrase with which England is endeavouring to scare and arouse the world against ue" When told that it was reported that the Russians nearly captured the Kaiser in the vicinity of Warsaw, the Prinoe laughed heartily, and said: "I must tell father that, ho will enjoy it! It is simply incredible what the English .papers prjnt about me, also about our side.of the war; thinking mo capable of stealing, and permitting my soldiers to loot French hemes.
