Telegraphic advice received from Greymouth by the local office of tho "Union Company stated that there was a moderate southerly gale and considerable Eea at that port yesterday morning. Tho Arahura managed to clear tho port for Westport, however, at 9 a.m. She was to have left the latter port for Nelson at 8 p.m. Departure will be taken from Nelson for Wellington this* morning, and the Arahura is not due here till tlue afternoon. Her trip to Picton has been abandoned, aud ; the vessel vail be slipped for cleaning and ; painting to-morrow. . She will be dispatched for Picton, Nelson, and West Coawt ports as usual on Saturday. The Pateena, which left Wellington, for Picton and Nelson last evening, will make & call at Pic- ; t-on on tho return journey to Wellington this evening. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain J. She will complete discharge hoTe, and proceed on to Wanganni to commence Homeward loading on Sunday morning next. From London direct the Shaw-Sevill liner' Waiwra arrived at Aucklond at 5.10 a.m. yefierday. En route to Wellington the vessel will make a call at Napier, being due here about December 13. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. announce that the auxiliary scow Echo will be rold by public auction at their wool store, Thorndor ( Qnoy. at 2.30 p.m. t-o-day. A marine boiler, etc., will also be put up for auction. With part of her original cargo of Greymouth coal, the Union collier Karamu ia due in port from Napier to-day.
