MILK SUPP T Y OF BUSH DISTRICTS
Although the present season has been fairly mild, the milk supplies at the majority of, the butter and. cheese factories in the Pahiatua district show a small decrease as compared with last year. _ The Mangatainoka Cheese Factory is, however, an exception to the jule, and the milk supply last week constituted a record. One day's supply- to-; tailed 2767 gallons, while the previous best one day's delivery of milk was 2750 gallons supplied about four seasons ago. The quantity of • cheese made to date, at this factory, is approximately 80 tons and the season's output is expected to .reach between 210 and 220 tons.— Fahiatua correspondent.

The late Mr. Charles Chetwode Baily, of Brighton, left £2000 to the Boyal National Lifeboat Institution, to be applied in building and equipping a lifeboat, and also a transporting carriage and' boathouse for the same. The testator desires that the lifeboat when built shall be'named "Charles Chetwode Baily," and that the boathouse and boat and transporting carriage shall be stationed at some place on the Scottish 'coast.. ■ ' Rear-Admiral Charles Davis Lucas, V.C., who was awarded the first Victoria Cross for gallantry in the Baltic on June 21, 1854, and who died on August 7 last, left unsettled property of the gross value of £4729 18s. Id.
