A LIFE-SAVING COLLAR

Every bluejacket in the Royal Navy is shortly to be supplied with a rubber collar which, when inflated and placed round the neck, will sustain a man in the .water as effectively as a cork lifebelt. It is understood that this lifesaving collar has been submitted to tho Admiralty,, with the result, that a supply of a million has been- ordered for early delivery. The collar is made of red rubber, and is about llin. in diameter. It is fitted with a £übe and a screw down valve, tho whole being enclosed in a stockinette case with' a clip for attachment. It weighs not moro than a couple of ounces or so, and folds up. into such small compass that it can be kept in tho pocket ready in case of emergency.
