arrived at Hob-art from the Homo port on Saturday morning, and continued her journey to Wellington the same evening. It is expected that 6ho will make port on Thursday morning next.
BAD WEATHER AT GREYMOUTH. Telegrams received from Greymouth at 9.20 a.m. yesterday stated that the bar was unworkable at that port. The Arohura arrived off the entrance to the river at 3.15 p.m., but was unable.to negotiate the bar on account of a otrong westerly gal© and heavy sea. It was considered doubtful whether she would get in on last evening's tide, and instructions have been issued for her to wait for this morning's tide if fihe failed t-o negotiate the entrance.
! SCOW'S HOUGH EXPERIENCE. The Auckland-owned scow Haere, 127 tone, which is at present at anchor in Wellington Harbour, hae had a rough handling in Cook Strait. In charge of Caiitain T. E«.ddy f she left on fia.tar.day, November 20, with a of coal for Wanganui. On the run acxoee she struck a. v/esterly pole, and owing to defect to the e-fter centre-bocltd tho llttlo vessel was compelled to Tun for Blind 13ay. Eepaire having been effected another start was made for Wangamii. Owing to adverse winds and calms, however, the Haere did not arrive off Wanganui River entrance till 6 p.m. lest Thursday—too late for the tide. Tho craft was kept at eeo, and about two hour© later she was struck by a heavy north-west gale, which lasted from 11 p.m. till noon on Friday. Those on board the Haere experienced a strenuous time. The weather was '-sry thick, and no land was sighted. An endeavour was made to make Port Underwood, but the gale iucroa*cd in fury till blowing at hurricane force. The foresail was blown to pieces, and the moinsail started. The balo blew itself out without doing further damage, and temporary repairs having been' eifocted the littlo eailer was enabled to make Wellington Htads without further mishap. In order to cone with the Christmas traffic the Uuion Company has made arrangements for running extra steamers in the ferry and Wellington-Picton-Xeteon services. The Maori, •vvEich lias been undergoing an extensive/ overhaul at Port Chalmers, will leave Wellington for Lyttelton on Saturday, December 12. On December 22' the Monowai and Maori will tyi dispatched • from Wellington for Lyttelton together with the Moeraki. On Christmas Eve tho Maori and Monowai will leave hcr« for' the southern port at 7.45 p.m. and 0p.m. respectively.. On Wednesday, December 23, and Wed-. needay, December 30, there will be no passenger steamer leaving Wellington for New Plymouth and Westport; The Mapourika, which is engaged in this service, will Gfl3ist tho Pateeno, and Arahitra in tho Wellincton-Picton-Nelfion' running.- On. Thursday, December 24, the Arahura will be dispatched from Wellington for Pieton at noon. The White Star liner Zealandio, which cleared Wellington for London, early on Friday morning, reported "All well" . by wireless on 'Sunday evening.
Tlio F. and S. liner Buteshire, which ar'rived in the stream at Wellington from Liverpool, via way ports, during tho night, will berth at- the Taranaki Street wharf this morning. Before. leaving for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and the Bluff on Thursday, the Buteshire will land 2300 tons of cargo at Wellington.
For the purpose of landing stores at Bruco Bay and certain Cook Strait lighthouses, the Hinemoa left Nelson at 4 a.m. yesterday, and arrival in port at 6.15 p.m. At 3 p.m. oil' Thursday, December 3, E.M.S. lonic will leave the Glasgow Wharf, Wellington, for London. January 13 is the date on which she will arrivo Home. Tho Shaw-Savill liner Tokomaru is duo at Wellington from Gisborne either lato tonight or early to-morrow morning. Having left Sydney at 2 p.m. on Friday last the Union Company's steamer Moeraki should put in an. appearance at Wellington early this morning. She has 103 saloon and ■ 113 steerage passengers on board for New Zealand ports. There are 398 tons of eaTgo in the ship for Wellington, 261 for Lyttelton, 176 for Dunedin, aad 98 for tho Bluff. An arrival at Auckland from New York, via Australian ports, early yesterday morning wa6 the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Star of Now Zealand. She will land about 900 tons of cargo at the northern .port, and is duo at Wellington on Thursday to discharge 1300 tons. In addition to southern port's, the Star «f Now Zealand .wall visit Nelson to put out cargo. Tlio Union Company's R.M.B. Niagara, which arrived at Auckland from Sydney yesterday morning, will. sail lor Vancouver, via Suva and Honolulu, at noon to-day. Coal-laden, the Union steame<r Karamu left Greymonth for Napier on Sunday morning. Sho will land part of her cargo there, and will then visit* Wellington to put out tho remainder. The steamer Whakarua, which was reported as being en. route from London to Auckland, Napier, ond Wellington, ylo, Australia, will not comc to Sew Zealand this trip. The vessel will discharge cargo at Melbourne and Sydney only. Later advice received in Wellington states that the Mimiro wa6 dispatched from New York on October '31 for Australian ports, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton. and Dunedin. ' According to advices received In Wellington the British Imperial Oil Oom■pany's steamer Phyea arrived at Singapore from Westport and. other New Zealand ports on November 23. Another cargo of case oil will bo brought to New Zealand by the vessel next month. A cablegram received from London states that R.M.S. Remuera liaß sailed lor Hobart and Wellington, On account of tho Wakatu having to lift a load of wool at, Stonylmrst for Lyttelton to-day she will not leave Wellington for Kfliltoura nnd Lyttelton till Friday next. When the Putiki has landed her Wanganui cargo at Wellington this afternoon =he will leave for Haveloclt and Sounds to load wool for this port.
