, (From Our Own Correspondent.; , A man named Frank Lawson appeared before Mr. J. W. M'Ewan, J.P.,at the Petone Police Court yesterday to answer a charge,of breaking and entering the house of Chas. Stone on Sunday, and stealing a portmanteau and contents, valued at £2 6s. On tho application of the police he was remanded till -JFriday next. The portmanteau' containing somo articles belonging to Mr. Stone was found by two boys some di6tanoe from- Mr. Stone's residence and handed to the .police, ' ' At St. James's Sunday School Hall, Lower Hutt, last evening, the local branch of the Girls' Friendly Society held a very enjoyable social evening. The Petone ambulance, van was only used on three occasions during November, each case being from Lower Hutt .to Wellington Hospital.
