After tea exceptionally rough and 6tormy voyage, the Wimmcra arrived at about 8.25 a.m. yesterday from'Hohart. The vessel left Hobart at 10.45 p.m. on Tuesday last. Fine weather with fresh northerly winds was experienced till the following day, when the vessel woe overtaken, by a storm area. The Wimmera was shortly caught in a storm of cyclonic force and until the afternoon of November 27 was driven eastward by the galo. The shin behaved very well in the terrific eeas. Once a very heavy eea caught her and burst open two of the desk doors. All the passengers were ordered below, though one who ventured on deck was caught in a sea that dashed over the vessel and had Ills hc.id bruised. Two of three members r>f the crew were also injured in similar fashion and suffered bruises. Two of the ofikera also had a narrow escape from being washed overboard. On Friday afternoon the. weather moderated, the etorm centre forging ahead. The weather continued moderating until the vessel arrived. The vessel brought to New Zealand .1185 tons of general cargo, 408 tons of which were for Wellington. The Wimmera had on board transhipments ex the steamcra Perth, Orsova, Karoola, Mongolia, Warilda, Zealandia, and Kapunda.
SOMERSET PASSES THE OAPE. Cable advice has been received stating that the F. and S. liner Somerset, which has replaced the Now Zealand Shipping Company's Ruapehu in the mail Eervicc, passed the Capo of Good Hope on Tuesday, November 24. She is cu route from London to Hobart and Wellington, Tia Auckland, and is duo at the northern port about December 20.
Continuing her journey from London the C. and D. liner Indrabaroh left Auckland for Napier and Wellington on Saturday. She' should arrive here on Thursday of this week, and will go on to Wanganui to commence loading about Saturday next. An expected arrival in port from San Francisco, via way ports, on-Thursday next 16 the Union Company's R.Jt.S. Marama. The F. and S. Line's Buteshire has -been, fixed to load at Auckland, Gieborne, Wait«ra, and Wellington, sailing finally from this port, for Avonmouth on December 30. Prior to entering the Wellington-Nelson-, Jlotuoko. service, the Anchor Line's Reitoa is being refitted at Nelson. It is announced that the Union Company's stauner Waitomo*- will load jarrah at Bunbury early in January for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. ACWr having visited Lyttelton, Timaxu,. Auckland, Tokomaru Bay, Gieborne, Napier, the Tongariro will come on to. Wellington before proceeding to Auckland to - complete Home loading.
