BREEZE IN. COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENT. Melbourne, November 28. ■ In the Federal House of Representatives the question of Sir George Reid's reappointment as High Commissioner for one year was discussed. Statements made by Mr. Cook (ex-Prime Minister) nnd tlio Hon. P. M. Glynn fes-Minister for Internal Affairs) show that it was intended to extend . Sir George Reid's term for from three to five years, but the elections intervene!. Mr. Cook said that if the Liberal Government had known that Sir George Reid was going to be treated in. this manner, it would have taken caro to ■ Teappoint him before the dissolution of their Parliament.

LIBERAL LEAD TO DATE. Melbourne, November 28. . Counting the preference votes (which in some electorates are incomplete) on the latest figures Labour has won Port Fairy from the Liberals, and Mr. R. I. Argyle, the old Liberal member for Dalhousie, was defeated by Mr. Cameron, an Independent Liberal. This makes the parties: Liberal, 42; Labour, 23.
BANK AID TO DROUGHT-AFFECTED CLIENTS
