The Wharf Labourers' Union held its first general meeting since December Ron Thursday evening. The newly-ap-pointed members of the executive were present. Mr. F. Curtice (lately elected president) was in the chair. A draft balance-sheet was presented, showing: Receipts (from subscriptions and en-' trance fees), £1559 19s. 3d.; payments, £1540 19s. 6d., leaving a credit'balance of £18 19s. 10d. The trading accounts owing wero set down as £28 14s. 3d., which it was decided to pay as , soon as enough funds, were forthcoming. The secretary (Mr. J. G. Bruce) was instructed to notify, unfinahcial members who have left the wharf to pay up their arrears, and if they do not intend to remain members of the union to send in their resignations. It is'anticipated that a large sum will be collected from this source. The first annual meeting of the union will bo hold in the Trades Hall this'evening, when the new rulcn, providing for the government of the union by its members, which have been passed by the Registrar of Awards, will be presented for adoption. Nominations for the positions of president, vice-pre-sident, secretary, and assistant-secre-tary will be received, and the election will take place as soon as-the roll of financial members is prepared.
