Government of India in tho Army Do- i partmont and member of the GovernorGeneral's Legislative Council since 1912. Ho is -ID years of age, and held his first commission in the lloyal Scots Fusiliers in ISB3. Ho held the rank of brigademajor in South Africa in 1900, and was military secretary to Lord Kitchener ill South Africa in 1902, after which ho went to India as interpreter to the Commander-in-Chief, besides which lie held several other olScos in later years. Ho has served at Hazara, Isazai, the north-west frontier of India (1897-98), Tirah, and South Africa. In the South African War ho waa severely wounded, and ho was mentioned live times in dispatches, received the brevot ranks of major and liout.-colonel, tlio Queen's medal with 6ix clasps, and the Kinjr'a medal with two clasps. He was cluef staff officer in the Molnnand expedition, 190S (despatches, inedsl, and .clasps, and D.5.0.)
