A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
The Rev. A. M. Johnson, vicar of St. Paul's, who returned yesterday from his visit to Great Britain, in the course of an, interview with a representative of The Dominion gavo his impression of the spiritual awakening in England brought about by the war. Mr. Johnson said: "The war had occasioned a wonderful revival of church life throughout the country. In most of the larger churches both in London and the large provincial cities huge crowds attended tho midday intercessional services, and each church kept a roll of honour, containing the names of its members who had gouo to tho front. The churches were also doing notably good work in relieving distress caused by the war. To show the temper of the times I attended a course of three sermons delivered in St. Paul's Cathedral by Archdeacon Holmes, and what do you think the subject was? The King's Colours—Red, White, and Blue!" That—in St. Paul's, mind you. Yet they were very inspiring, and the subject was beautifully 'worked out—red for tho sacrifice, white for victory, blue for God's clear skj. above us all.
