MORE BUILDING ACTIVITY. The Public Trustee, as executor for the T. G. Macarthy Estate, does not believe in allowing vacant City allotments to remain idle. Somo buildings have already been erected and are occupied, and another building scheme is being initiated by the acceptance of tbo tender of Messrs. Campbell and Burko for a modern.motor/garage to be erected on part of the brewery sito in Tory Street, Which up to the present has been occupied by a bottling store. Tho new. garage, which is to bo tenanted by the Dominion Motor Vehicles Company, Ltd.,; will: be a substantial twostoried brick building with a frontage of 60ft.to Tory Street by a depth of •120 feet. The ground floor will be fitted up as a commodious garage and workshop, with the latest equipment for handling cars, the latest machinery, two turn-tables; and two wash-downs. There will also be a ladies' waiting-room, and a fire-proof petrol store. The whole of
the upper floor will be devoted to the 'storage..'of .cars and accessories. Tho same company have purchased the property in Courtenay Place, which abuts on to tho garage site, and which is to bo.used as offices, etc., in connection with,the business. 'Hie architect is Mr. J M. Dawson.
The removal of the old bottling store makes the provision of a now and larger one necessary. The new store will have a frontage to Tory Street .of 50. feet, and will be fitted with the latest bottlewashing and filling apparatus. Messrs. Campbell and Burk will also build this new storo.
