Haselden,' S.M., presided, and had ' with"him Mr. AY. 0. Eiinis (representing the- First Division) and Mr. P. Games (representing the Second Division). The first appeal was that of Signalman E. N. Sandys, who appealed against his reduction to guard for 12. months as 'the'result-of a fatal engine accident near Overbridge.' The facts were that. Sandys put the', signal at "clear" when two engines were actually in collision. Sandys, in the course of his evidence, stated that it was not till four months after the collision occurred that ho was notified that he was to be punished, and that.he was in charge, of the signalbox for four months after the accideut occurred. Decision was reserved! . '• . . . , Mr. George Andrews, senior clerk, of Oamaru, appealed against the decision of the manager in refusing to recommend him for promotion. Mr. Waifce, traffic manager, said he ecu Id not recommend appellant for promotion to a higher grade. Decision wss reserved.
