BUILDING UP THE EMPIRE'S TRADE
OUR GREAT OPPORTUNITY, (Rec. November 26, 0.15 a.m.) Ottawa, November. 25. Sir Riohard M'Bride, Premier of • British Columbia, speaking at Vancouver, announced that reciprocity with Australia was under the Cabinet's consideration. He hoped to arrange reciprocity for a number of shipments, as British Columbia was only doing four per cent, of its total lumber trade with> Australia, while she was doing ten times as much with South Africa, where lumber reciprocity prevailed. Now that the Empire was at war, . they had an opportunity for building up. trade within the Empire. Eefußing to assist in the building up of the trade, of foreign countries ought to be the car. dinal policy of every British Dominion. New Zealand's trade relations'; could . also be largely developed on lines. ' ■. ■- . ■
