The Press Bureau states.: "An obsorver with tho Indians in France says a striking instance of the resource and presence of mind was exhibited on a- recent night by a private, who has since been promoted. With a companion ho was creeping out of the trenches _ to make observations on the German line, two hundred yards distant. When mid-way a. German searchlight discovered them, the former immediately rose, advanced,, and 6aTaaming, was allowed to enter the trenches. The Germans mentioning the British, tho Indian drew his hand across his throat in a gesture of disgust. He was given rations and a blanket and spent the night in the trench. In the morning, using his fingers, he indicated that there were twenty-five other Mussulmans in. his trendy and he could bring them in. The Germans were deceived. They released him, and he re-' joined Ms friends. -..''■
