I fßy l^elesraph—Press AisooiatfoiD | Walmato, November 24. Tha South Canterbury Methodist Synod opened in Waimate in Ministerial Committee this morning, under <iho chairmanship of the 'Rev. T. A. Joiighin. It was reported that the llov. J. R. Sullivan had joined the vanktf of the Expeditionary Force, and had gone to the front. It had been ascertained that both in camp and on the troopships he was wielding a splendid influence. Many eulogised his patriotism, and his care was referred to the conference. Mr,, Lister Minifie, having recovered his health, was recommended for immediate employment as a minister on probation. Pleasure was expressed at the work of the Theological College in Auckland, and of the high quality of the principal's (Rev. C. R„ Garland) work.
