Speaking in Christohurch last:week, Mr. Isitt announced that General Godley, before -leaving New Zealand, "had shaken him (Mr. Isitt) by tho hand and thanked him for the help he had given in connection with tho scheme." If this is true, General Godley probably had in mind these helpful statements by Mr. Isitt: — "The only thing ,to do was to go in for a citizens' defence force and rob the Act of its compulsion."—At Christchurch, May 29, 1913. "Ho was not in tlie House when they went in for tho Territorial system, or ho would have fought against it tooth and nail."—At Invorcargill. June 20, 1914. „ In that case (says the "Press") the General's sarcasm was a little cruel.
