Alfred Hansen, who was caught coming out:of a Chinaman's shop with tobacco and cigarettes (valued at. 9s. 7d.) ; which'he had stolen, was sentenced to 11 days' imprisonment. A youth of 21 years, Frederick Allan •Potter, pleaded guilty to the theft of 231b. of metal, etc., valued at '£8 10s., the property of H. D: Crawford. Mr. H.'F. O'Leary appeared for the- accused, who, he said, came of respectable parents. . When young he received an injury to his head, and had since shown a tendency to ■ take material' which would be of value to him in a work- . shop he'had. A good character was given accused by his employer, who stated his willingness, to keep the lad on in his employ.
